Thank you for considering adoption for your next furry family member. Adopting a dog is very rewarding. Many Havaheart dogs come from a commercial breeding background and, as such, may have special emotional needs. It may take time for your rescue dog to adjust to their new life as a loved and pampered companion.
We ask that adopters give their new pet time to adjust to their new home. Because of the time and dedication given by our foster families, most dogs do remarkably well. You can be assured that Havaheart Rescue is here to support you and your pet through the transition and celebrating the joy and satisfaction received by the adoptive family.
Step 2: Review
Once received, your application will be reviewed by our application processing team.
Step 3: Interview
If you are good fit for us and a possible match for one of our dogs, one of our volunteers will call you for an interview.
Step 4: Meet the Dog
Once we feel like you're a good fit, we will schedule a time for you to meet the dog we think may be a good fit for you, your family, and your situation.
If You Are Interested in Adopting Please Note:
We are able to complete some out-of-state adoptions. Each situation is handled uniquely. If you are interested in one of our dogs and are outside our adoption areas, please read this section carefully.

We require that you are an approved adopter before meeting an adoptable dog.

In most cases, we require that you meet the dog in person. Puppies are generally an exception to this rule.

If you are selected to adopt the dog, we can help with ground transport. There is an additional fee for this service

Adopted dogs can travel by air, but only in the cabin. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES will we ship a dog to you.

Every Dog Deserves a Healthy Start
Before adoption, HavaHeart dogs are spayed or neutered, brought up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and receive the veterinary care they need to prepare for their forever homes. Most routine vetting is completed before adoption.
Puppies are the exception. Because of their age, some puppies may be placed with families before all vaccinations or their spay/neuter procedure can be completed. Any remaining veterinary requirements will be discussed with the adopter as part of the adoption process.

Please keep in mind that fosters get first dibs on their foster dog. Our foster families spend valuable time getting to know these dogs and, when they decide a foster is the right fit for their family, they have the opportunity to adopt them. Please note: Just because a dog is listed on our website does not guarantee that they will still be available when your application is processed. Dogs may receive applications or be adopted at any time, and our website may not always reflect those changes immediately. We encourage you to apply as soon as you find a dog who seems like a good match. Our goal is to find the right home for each dog, and we appreciate your understanding as we work through applications and adoptions.
If you see a puppy under 8 weeks of age on our website, they are probably not yet available for adoption. We encourage you to submit an adoption application anyway and mention the puppy by name! Not only can we discuss when that puppy may become available, but we can also help you find another wonderful dog or puppy that may be the perfect fit for your family.
